Our achievements

1.0 In order to make Digital Bangladesh a knowledge based society and middle income country by 2021, the government formed Information and Communication Technology Department under the Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology in 2011. The Department of Information and Communication Technology was formed under the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology in 2014 to speed up the development of information technology and streamline the work. The department is implementing various projects and programs to create employment opportunities, create infrastructure, connectivity, develop the ICT industry and innovate new services and expand ICT education by creating skilled human resources in the ICT sector.

1.1 The Department of Information and Communication Technology has been formed in 2013 with a total of 656 posts including 574 technical posts with a view to reach the citizen service field level of the Information and Communication Technology Department. On 14th July 2015, 200 (two hundred) people with technical knowledge have been deployed in different districts and upazilas. A manpower structure of 1112 more has been approved and recruitment process is underway. Once this recruitment process is completed, it will be easier for the government to provide ICT related services at the field level. This will make it easier to provide harassment free services to the people.

1.2 Development of National Infra-Network for Bangladesh Government (BanglaGovNet) project through network connectivity between 56 ministries / divisions, 226 offices / directorates, 64 district and 64 upazila level offices in various important government establishments in Dhaka: 43 The installation of optical fiber has been completed. The Info-sarker-II project, a continuation of the BanglaGonnet project, has connected 16453 government offices in 64 districts and 48 upazilas under the same network. Video Conferencing System has been introduced in 600 important places of district and upazila using this network. Tablet PCs have been distributed among 25000 (twenty five thousand) government officials to keep government officials connected online all the time. Wi-Fi connection has been established between Bangladesh Secretariat and Bangladesh Computer Council.



In order to expand internet connection at 1.3 union level, activities have been taken to set up optical fiber network in 2600 unions under Info-Sarkar Phase-3 project. And through the Establishing Digital Connectivity Project, activities have been undertaken to provide optical fiber network and internship services to all government and non-government organizations across the country.



1.4 A Tier-3 quality data center has been set up at BCC building for storing data of various ministries / departments / institutions electronically. A Tier-4 quality data center has also been set up at Kaliakair Hi-Tech Park. Disaster Recovery Center has been set up at Jessore Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park.

1.5 Establishment of 57 km Fiber Optic Cable Line from Panchagarh in Bangladesh to Banglabandha in order to establish a regional network between four SASEC countries (Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Bhutan) through the Establishment of South Asia Sub-Regional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) project. Done.

1.6 Infrastructure development work of Hi-Tech Park on 232 acres of land at Kaliakair in Gazipur District on the basis of Public Private Partnership is progressing at a fast pace. Construction of 15-storey multi-tenant building and 12-storey dormitory building at Jessore Software Technology Park on 9.18 acres is nearing completion. The activities of Janata Tower Software Technology Park at Karwan Bazar have been officially started. Space allocation has already been provided among 16 (seventeen) IT companies. Work has been undertaken to set up Mohakhali IT Village on 48 acres of land. Projects have been taken up to set up single design IT parks in 12 places of the country. In addition, plans have been taken to set up 6 IT training and incubation centers. The government has already issued 10 SROs of special incentive packages for developers and investors of high-tech parks.

Out of the 55,000 free-lancers earmarked under the 1.8 Learning and Learning Development Project, 20,000 women have already been trained on Basic ICT leteracy. Through this project, in the current financial year, 25000 more young men / women will be provided training on Basic ICT Training and 10000 Science Graduates on Advanced Outsourcing. Mobile ICT Training Bus (Caravan Bus) has already been procured to enhance women's ICT skills through this project. This bus will have all the training equipments through which the educated young men and women of Upazila / Union level will get the opportunity to receive training on ICT while sitting in the bus. It is planned to bring about 1000 women under this training program in the current financial year.

1.6. Under the project titled "Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance", necessary steps have been taken to create 34,000 IT professionals. As part of creating Fast Track Future Leader, 36 people have already been trained. In addition, out of 10,000 selected science graduates, 1000 have been trained as part of IT Top Up Training and out of 20,000 selected as part of Foundation Skill Training, 2000 have been trained.
